Mike Avayanos grew up as a true sports kid: always active and always competing. Basketball, track, baseball, soccer, tennis… if there was a game happening, chances are he was in it. That drive and love for sport never left him. As an adult, he took things even further, training in boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. But over time, boxing became his main focus, and for the past 10 years, it’s been his craft.
Mike holds his Ontario Boxing Coaching Certification and has been coaching at REVMMA since 2018, working with both beginners and advanced students. His boxing classes in Toronto are well-structured, focused, and open to everyone. He works comfortably with both conventional and southpaw athletes, in group classes and boxing private lessons.
Mike’s passion for boxing is impossible to miss. He’s a coach who’s so committed to this martial art that you feel it during his boxing classes in Toronto. From your very first session, his energy sets the tone, even if you’re a beginner or doing one-on-one training to improve your skills. Mike’s consistent and structured sessions develop:
Mike believes boxing makes people better. And you don’t need to be a competitive athlete to prove it. All it takes is regular training, driven by self-respect and love for the martial arts.

Mike’s coaching philosophy comes down to one idea: consistency beats intensity. He keeps things simple on purpose, because in his experience, the complicated stuff only clicks once you’ve nailed the basics a hundred times over.
For him, great teaching means making the complicated feel simple. He strips techniques down to what matters and makes sure students actually understand what they do. He often cites Picasso: “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” That’s the kind of boxer Mike builds: grounded, sharp, and confident in their craft.
