Pouria Ghasemi didn’t just step onto the mat to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He had much bigger plans because his goal was to GROW. Pouria, a Gracie Jiu Jitsu ICP Certified Instructor and BJJ purple belt, began training five years ago under REVMMA‘s Chief Instructor, Joel Gerson, right here in Toronto. At the time, it was a challenge to convince himself he COULD do it. Now he proves to others that THEY CAN do it too.
As a lifelong martial arts fan, he dived deeply into the philosophy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. For him, it was a way to continue his personal growth, develop discipline, and gain confidence. The more he trained, the more he realized that BJJ wasn’t just shaping his skills… it was shaping his mindset. Today, he leads others down the same path, helping students discover what they are truly capable of.
With over 3+ years of coaching experience, Pouria has worked with little munchkins, juniors, teens, and adults across Toronto, and yes, he speaks fluent “kid energy.” His extensive experience allows him to create Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes with the disciplined kind of fun:
Pouria adapts BJJ classes for all ages and experience levels, from munchkins who treat warm-ups like a game of tag to adults who come after a long workday and want to relieve stress. Everyone feels comfortable with him.

Pouria often says, “Jiu Jitsu isn’t just about self-defence or sport, it’s a way to build confidence, discipline, and resilience. The skills you develop on the mats shape who you become off them.” He believes that martial arts are a mirror because they reflect your effort, patience, and, most importantly, your mindset.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches discipline. It sharpens focus. It humbles you and then builds you back stronger. In a fast-paced city like Toronto, BJJ becomes a reset button. A place where distractions fade, and growth becomes the priority.
His mission is to help students not only improve their technique but also develop self-belief that carries into school, work, and everyday life.
